Semi-Truck Towing on April Fools Day

Semi-Truck Towing on April Fools Day

On April 1, 2022, Team Pro-Tow responded to an accident involving a semi-truck and trailer, and a bus. Unfortunately, there was significant damage to the semi-truck, including the fuel tank. This job required semi-truck towing and a diesel fuel spill recovery.

Diesel Fuel Spill Recovery on April Fool’s Day

Diesel fuel was all over the roadway, and this was no April Fool’s Day joke! We worked closely with our Pro-Enviro spill response team to conduct a scene assessment and develop an accident and spill recovery plan. Containing the fuel spill and ensuring it didn’t spread was critical before any semi-truck towing could occur.

First, we ensured the leaky tank was no longer spilling fuel. Then, we used absorbents to the spill to dry up the contaminates so they could be swept away and disposed of. When working on a spill recovery, we thoroughly clean all contaminated areas. A thorough cleanup of spilled substances like fuel reduces the risk of pollution, fires, and traffic hazards.

Then It’s Time for Semi-Truck Towing

Once the fuel was contained and cleaned, Team Pro-Tow could rig up the casualty and remove it from the scene. First, we detached the truck from the trailer to make the process easier. That way, we could remove each casualty at a time. Then, we towed the truck and trailer to our secure storage yard, filled out the required paperwork and called it a job well done.

Camper Trailer Rollover Requires RV Recovery

Camper Trailer Rollover Requires RV Recovery

On June 30, 2021, Team-Pro Tow got a call about an accident involving a rolled-over camper trailer on the I-90 near Issaquah. We saw that the RV was blocking the highway when we got there. So our skilled operators got to work creating an RV recovery plan.

Rigging Up the RV

After creating the recovery plan, it was time to start rigging up the very long camper trailer. We carefully wrapped and attached heavy-duty straps around the RV. We wanted to secure the casualty and lift it without causing further damage.

Finally, we cautiously lifted the RV onto a flatbed trailer using a heavy-duty crane-style wrecker. Then it was ready for RV towing in Issaquah. Once the trailer was away from the scene, our team cleaned up any debris left from the accident.

RV Recovery Complete

Team-Pro Tow moved the damaged RV away from the scene, allowing traffic to flow freely again. Unless given specific instructions, we bring casualties to our secure storage yard. From there, the customer can decide what to do with the vehicle or RV in this case.

Team-Pro Tow offers heavy duty towing for a range of heavy trucks and equipment, including RV towing in Issaquah, Spokane, Maple Valley, Auburn, North Bend and other Washington State locations. Truck Accident Recovery on Tiger Mountain Summit

Truck Accident Recovery on Tiger Mountain Summit

In this incident on October 22, 2019, Team Pro-Tow responded to an emergency dispatch from the Washington State Police about a tractor-trailer that had overturned on the I-90 at Tiger Mountain Summit. The trailer was loaded with laundry and had gone 20 feet off the roadway.

We dispatched a heavy-duty rotating crane style wrecker and a heavy-duty recovery truck. At least one lane of WB was able to be left open, because of the location of the crash. To safely handle this truck accident recovery, we brought in another heavy-duty crane style wrecker. Leaking fuel oil and motor oils were spreading across the roadway, so we dispatched our spill response equipment and a team to safely handle the fuel spill cleanup.

Pro-Tow reported to the incident command post and after reviewing the situation, we created a recovery plan. This job required difficult additional rigging, equipment and careful operation because of the location of the truck. First, we installed rigging and performed a test lift to make sure all emergency personnel would be safe. Specialized high-pressure air bags were used to lift the trailer, and wide recovery straps were added for support to prevent any rupturing.

We were able to not only safely and successfully upright the truck, but we were able to do so with minimal lane closure and in little time. With the truck accident recovery successful, the truck was then moved to a nearby parking lot.

Moving Onto Cleanup Duty

Next was handling the excessive amounts of casualty debris on the roads. The debris was collected and contained, and the roadway swept and cleaned. The embankment also needed reshaping, which we did to the maximum practical extent. Emergency fuel spill cleanup response protocols were implemented to handle the fuel and motor oil spills and a compact trailer used to remove the contaminated soil.

In the end, the tractor and trailer were safely transported to the storage yard, and all equipment was returned to its original location. A job well done and safely handled by our Pro-Tow team!

Smoked in Issaquah: Heavy-Duty Tow Needed for Burnt Out Tractor and Trailer

Smoked in Issaquah: Heavy-Duty Tow Needed for Burnt Out Tractor and Trailer

On March 7, 2020, Team Pro-tow received an emergency dispatch regarding a fully burned-out semi-tractor and trailer that was blocking the I-90 near Issaquah, WA. The Washington State Police requested a heavy-duty tow truck to the scene, as well as a cleanup crew to clean up the truck accident and get the roadway back open.

Team Pro-Tow Quickly Responds

Without delay, we were able to mobilize a team of professional semi-truck accident recovery personnel, and the heavy-duty tow equipment required to handle this unusual and challenging incident. Both Pro-Tow and Pro-Enviro were on the scene, bring our specialized equipment, and certified and trained operators in no time. We were ready to get to work on this recovery.

Hookup, Tow, and Cleanup

After surveying the scene of the fire and truck accident, Team Pro-Tow was able to safely hook up the semi-tractor and trailer to our towing equipment and remove it from the roadway. Once the tractor and trailer were out of the way, we employed our truck accident recovery and cleanup crew. To do this, we used a Bobcat compact track loader, industrial-grade grapple, and a specialized street sweeper.

All the debris, ashes, truck parts, and contaminates were cleaned up and secured in a dump trailer for safe disposal. Our tireless teams worked through the night to restore I-90 to a safe condition, so all regular travel on the roadway could continue.

Once the cleanup and truck accident recovery was complete, all Pro-Tow and Pro-Enviro teammates returned the tractor and trailer to our secured storage yard in Auburn, WA. Here, we continued unloading the debris, prepared the manifest, and completed an extensive cleanup of all equipment.

How To Load Your RV For Stability

Given the right circumstances, even a RV can very easily tip over. In this recovery blog, the RV was lucky to lean against a tree, but more serious tips can result in a rollover and cause serious damage and expense. You can help avoid this issue by properly loading your RV with low-down weight. This method is practical as well, as a poorly loaded RV will make finding things again difficult.

When loading your RV, keep the weight bottom-heavy and make sure that whatever you pack is spread over the coach’s axles. Properly distributing the weight will make it less likely for your RV to tip over, because the even weight will keep things in balance. You want to avoid an accident, damage to your RV and the need for heavy-duty towing.

How To Safely Park An RV

Make sure that when you park your RV, you give yourself enough space to also leave the spot again. RV’s aren’t the best when it comes to maneuverability, so if you park somewhere cramped, it may cause issues when you want to leave.

Also, don’t park on the side of a road or near any dips in case it offsets the RV and puts it at risk of tipping over. Instead, park on a flat surface and make sure you put blocks in front of the tires to avoid any runaway RVs. Then, check to make sure your RV is level and stabilized. This is important not only for later when you go to sleep, but also when it comes to ensuring your RV doesn’t sway around or risk tipping over.

If you’re parking at a rest stop or roadside pullout for a break or to check out an attraction on the road, inspect the area first. If it’s too close to a ditch, like in this incident, or if the spot is wet or soft, avoid it.
