Heavy Truck Towing for When You’re Stuck in the Mud

Heavy Truck Towing for When You’re Stuck in the Mud

In this incident, on January 11, 2022, a truck and trailer were driving along and took a too narrow turn that ended up with its trailer wheels trapped in the muddy ditch at a dairy farm. Luckily, Team Pro-Team was there to save the day and help the trapped truck get free.

Heavy Truck Towing for the Stuck Truck

Team Pro-Tow arrived on the scene promptly prepared for some heavy-truck towing. The truck in the mud was about 80,000 pounds, so it took some muscle to get it out of the ditch! We set up the rigging around the stuck truck, carefully pulled it free, and set it back onto the road.

The good news for the truck driver is that our Team Pro-Tow offers 24-hour emergency towing services, including heavy truck towing. So even in cases like these, where it’s not a major accident, our team is always ready and able to help.

Avoid Needing Semi-Truck Towing

While we can always help with a stuck truck and trailer, the best practice is to avoid the problem altogether. Still, it can be a problem at loading lots, especially during the warmer months that bring rain and muddy conditions.

The first step is to walk around your truck to check the ground in front and behind your rig. If you aren’t sure how stable or soft the ground is, it’s best to avoid driving or parking on it. Being extra careful, and taking time to inspect the ground, can help you avoid the cost of semi-truck towing.

This rule also applies in the winter. After parking your truck, wait 10-15 minutes, then move the truck forward or backwards. As your tires cool down, it can melt the snow beneath the tires. When that snow refreezes, it turns icy and can make your truck stuck. Moving off the melted patch will save you from getting stuck during a roadside break or while loading your cargo.

If you need emergency towing, Team Pro-Tow is always just a call away!

Semi-Truck Towing for Tipper on 18

Semi-Truck Towing for Tipper on 18

On May 28, 2021, we responded to a call for a semi-truck and trailer in a ditch eastbound on Highway 18, west of the i-90 near Snoqualmie, Washington. Unfortunately, the truck was in a collision and ended up off the road. It can be impossible to get out without heavy truck towing services in situations like these.

Pick and Pass Recovery

When we arrived at the scene, we saw that the entire passenger side of the semi-truck was in the ditch, and the trailer was leaning heavily away from the roadway. Team Pro-Tow decided that a Pick and Pass play would be the best semi-truck recovery strategy.

We placed the HD Rotating Crane Style Wreck at the rear of the truck and trailer. Our team planned to pick up the back end of the trailer and swing it over onto the road. We also put an HD C Class Wrecker at the front of the truck to pull it out of the ditch. Before starting the semi-truck towing, we removed the bumper to prevent further damage.

Rigged Up for Semi-Truck Towing

An integral part of every recovery is proper planning and securing the rigging. Team Pro-Tow used factory front bumper hooks to lift the truck’s front out of the ditch. We also had a red endless loop strap in a bridal configuration.

Then, we used rim slings on the rear wheels of the trailer and blue endless loop straps in a basket configuration. Altogether, we rigged four lines to the trailer load. We carefully inspected all the rigging to ensure it was ready for a heavy truck towing service.

Truck and Trailer Back on the Road

The winches were engaged to begin the semi-truck recovery very slowly and carefully. Simultaneously, we pulled the truck out of the ditch and lifted the trailer back on the road. This recovery was successful, and we got that casualty back on the roadway in one piece!

Unfortunately, the truck wouldn’t start due to low fuel tanks. The driver’s side fuel tank had gone into the passenger side’s tank due to the lean. This customer needed heavy truck towing services. We took it to our secured yard and performed a requested load shift service.

Another successful recovery and cleared call by Team Pro-Tow!

Truck Accident Recovery on Tiger Mountain Summit

Truck Accident Recovery on Tiger Mountain Summit

In this incident on October 22, 2019, Team Pro-Tow responded to an emergency dispatch from the Washington State Police about a tractor-trailer that had overturned on the I-90 at Tiger Mountain Summit. The trailer was loaded with laundry and had gone 20 feet off the roadway.

We dispatched a heavy-duty rotating crane style wrecker and a heavy-duty recovery truck. At least one lane of WB was able to be left open, because of the location of the crash. To safely handle this truck accident recovery, we brought in another heavy-duty crane style wrecker. Leaking fuel oil and motor oils were spreading across the roadway, so we dispatched our spill response equipment and a team to safely handle the fuel spill cleanup.

Pro-Tow reported to the incident command post and after reviewing the situation, we created a recovery plan. This job required difficult additional rigging, equipment and careful operation because of the location of the truck. First, we installed rigging and performed a test lift to make sure all emergency personnel would be safe. Specialized high-pressure air bags were used to lift the trailer, and wide recovery straps were added for support to prevent any rupturing.

We were able to not only safely and successfully upright the truck, but we were able to do so with minimal lane closure and in little time. With the truck accident recovery successful, the truck was then moved to a nearby parking lot.

Moving Onto Cleanup Duty

Next was handling the excessive amounts of casualty debris on the roads. The debris was collected and contained, and the roadway swept and cleaned. The embankment also needed reshaping, which we did to the maximum practical extent. Emergency fuel spill cleanup response protocols were implemented to handle the fuel and motor oil spills and a compact trailer used to remove the contaminated soil.

In the end, the tractor and trailer were safely transported to the storage yard, and all equipment was returned to its original location. A job well done and safely handled by our Pro-Tow team!

Smoked in Issaquah: Heavy-Duty Tow Needed for Burnt Out Tractor and Trailer

Smoked in Issaquah: Heavy-Duty Tow Needed for Burnt Out Tractor and Trailer

On March 7, 2020, Team Pro-tow received an emergency dispatch regarding a fully burned-out semi-tractor and trailer that was blocking the I-90 near Issaquah, WA. The Washington State Police requested a heavy-duty tow truck to the scene, as well as a cleanup crew to clean up the truck accident and get the roadway back open.

Team Pro-Tow Quickly Responds

Without delay, we were able to mobilize a team of professional semi-truck accident recovery personnel, and the heavy-duty tow equipment required to handle this unusual and challenging incident. Both Pro-Tow and Pro-Enviro were on the scene, bring our specialized equipment, and certified and trained operators in no time. We were ready to get to work on this recovery.

Hookup, Tow, and Cleanup

After surveying the scene of the fire and truck accident, Team Pro-Tow was able to safely hook up the semi-tractor and trailer to our towing equipment and remove it from the roadway. Once the tractor and trailer were out of the way, we employed our truck accident recovery and cleanup crew. To do this, we used a Bobcat compact track loader, industrial-grade grapple, and a specialized street sweeper.

All the debris, ashes, truck parts, and contaminates were cleaned up and secured in a dump trailer for safe disposal. Our tireless teams worked through the night to restore I-90 to a safe condition, so all regular travel on the roadway could continue.

Once the cleanup and truck accident recovery was complete, all Pro-Tow and Pro-Enviro teammates returned the tractor and trailer to our secured storage yard in Auburn, WA. Here, we continued unloading the debris, prepared the manifest, and completed an extensive cleanup of all equipment.

Can I Still Get My Car Towed During the COVID-19 Crisis?

Can I Still Get My Car Towed During the COVID-19 Crisis?

Having your car break down on the side of the road is already a stressful experience. Having it break down during a global pandemic can feel like a nightmare. The good news is that most people are choosing to stay at home, limit travel, and because of this the roads are not very busy. Fewer vehicles on the road mean fewer break downs. But still, if you’re traveling and you need emergency towing, you are not out of luck.

Pro-Tow Continues 24-Hour Towing Services

Pro-Tow 24-Hour Towing is offering emergency towing services around the clock. We operate out of Auburn, WA, Spokane, WA, and Maple Valley, WA, but our service area is expansive. If you need our help, we can still come to get your vehicle. 24-hour towing services and other recovery services are considered an essential service, and therefore, are still operating.

Staying Safe When Needing a Tow

There are a few things we need to take care of while operating during a health crisis. We are committed to the health and safety of our customers and will require a few things from you to help us protect our operators.

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, are self-isolating, or are under quarantine, you need to let our phone operators know. Being aware of the risk will allow us to take extra safety precautions when towing your vehicle. That includes wearing gloves, using hand sanitizer and disinfecting areas that are touched by our operator. It might also mean that you will need to leave the keys on the seat and move away from the vehicle while they get it hooked up. You will not be permitted to ride with our driver in their truck and will need a ride if you are away from your home.

If you do not have symptoms and are not self-isolating, we will still take precautions. We will keep 2 meters away from you while hooking up your vehicle. Our operators will do their best to keep you and themselves protected, including wearing gloves and using hand sanitizer.
