It also provides food and supplies for our general population and our Canadian neighbors, ensuring grocery stores can keep their shelves stocked.

We need our truckers, and Pro-Tow is dedicated to providing 24-hour services for this essential industry in the Auburn, WA, Spokane, WA, Maple Valley, WA, and surrounding areas. As a support service for the transportation industry, we are taking our responsibility and role very seriously.

Seattle Fire Trucks Needs Heavy Duty Towing Service

Seattle Fire Trucks Needs Heavy Duty Towing Service

On November 18th, 2019, Pro-Tow was called to assist with heavy-duty towing for a disabled Fire Truck in downtown Seattle. The Fire Truck was a specially equipped Pierce Taylor Ladder Truck, so it required an extraordinary tow truck and special training to handle its recovery. Once we were able to safely secure the fire truck to our heavy-duty towing truck, we towed the truck back to the Seattle Fire Department Maintenance Department.

Heavy Duty Fire Trucks Require Heavy Duty Help

For this recovery, Pro-Tow had to use an extraordinary tow truck to help with this truck accident recovery. The reason for this is because the average fire truck can weigh between 36,000 to 60,000 pounds. At Pro-Tow, our heavy-duty towing services cover class 7 and up trucks. Class 7 trucks range between 26,001 and 33,000 pounds, while class 8 covers trucks that are over 33,0001 pounds. That’s why for a truck this heavy, Pro-Tow used our heavy-duty towing to handle the job!

Fire Trucks Are Different From Fire Engines

Despite looking the same, a fire truck and a fire engine are different from one another. Fire trucks, like the one mentioned in this recovery blog, are equipped with a large aerial ladder. These extend out from the truck but don’t detach. The truck also has special equipment for search and rescue, forced entry and various types and lengths of ground ladders. Fire trucks will always have a captain and three other firefighters. A captain is identifiable by their red helmet, while the firefighters wear yellow helmets.

A fire engine looks like a fire truck but without the big aerial ladder. These are equipped with hoses, tools and ground ladders. Water tanks, pumps and various types of hoses are the key components of a fire engine, which all help with putting out fires. The water hoses on these fire engines can run up to 300 meters in length. The standard fire engine itself is also able to carry upwards of 2000 litres of water.

Bobcat Takes A Nap

Bobcat Takes A Nap

In this incident on August 16, 2019, Pro-Tow responded to a recovery of a Bobcat S450 that had accidentally rolled over, after deciding it was time for a nap. Moving machinery like this typically requires a heavy-duty or semi-truck tow service. Luckily, the Bobcat rolled without any damage and Pro-Tow quickly straightened it up. Once recovered, the Bobcat carried on with its afternoon work without further incident.

Bobcat Safety First And Always

When you operate a Bobcat, it’s important to keep all safety procedures in mind both before and during operation. Before you start, make sure to do a pre-use inspection to check that everything is in working order. If not, repair what’s broken first. Skid steer loaders, such as the Bobcat S450 in this incident, should also be equipped with a cab and rollover protective structure. This is what will protect the driver in the event a rollover does happen, and reduce the need for a semi-truck tow service. And don’t forget your seatbelt!

How To Avoid Rollovers With A Bobcat

Bobcats are most at risk of a rollover when working on soft or steep ground or when the skid steer loader has become unstable or out of balance. You can avoid a rollover by making sure you don’t overload, lift loads too high in the air, and don’t drive too fast on rough or uneven surfaces. If the loader becomes unstable, it puts the entire Bobcat at risk of rolling over. Once a rollover starts, it’s hard to react quickly enough to prevent a full roll. When you are working in a Bobcat, make sure you constantly check your surroundings and whatever terrain you are driving on. Awareness is the key step to keeping safe when operating machinery.

If you ever find yourself in a situation you need help with without causing any damage, then Pro-Tow is the one to call for heavy machinery and semi-truck tow service. With our certified, drug tested, and background checked professionals, we can get you out of any situation, guaranteed!

House Crasher – Heavy Duty Towing Required

House Crasher – Heavy Duty Towing Required

On October 21, 2018, Pro-Tow responded to a dispatch call to help assist a car that had gone down an embankment and crashed into the side of a house. This accident needed heavy-duty towing. We arrived at the scene and reported to the command post, then did a scene inspection and formed our recovery plan.

First, we rigged a transport line to safely transport the rigging down approximately 75 feet at 100% grade. Once lowered, we secured the rigging to the car and used emergency communication devices as we slowly lifted the vehicle. Once the vehicle was safely removed from the house, we lowered it back to the ground to rest on its tires. Pro-Tow then safely winched the car up the embankment and lifted it onto the carrier to be transported to yard 2.

24-Hour Emergency Services For Big And Small Problems

While many of our recovery blogs handle semi-truck accidents or camper accidents, our 24-hour emergency towing is also there for regular vehicles as well. Our 24-hour services include helping fix breakdowns along the roads, accidents, cargo incidents and unexpected leaks or fuel spills. Or, as in this case, a crash into the side of a house. Safety is our priority at Pro-Tow, so if you find yourself in trouble, we have the services and tools to help.

We also have equipment ready for any situation, either big and complicated situations or situations that require big equipment. Pro-Tow also offers heavy lifting with our cranes, which are key in dealing with complex incidents such as with semi-truck accidents. As described in this recovery blog, we used heavy-duty towing and rigging to safely handle the incident.

Repairs To Get You Back On The Road

For emergency towing services, Pro-Tow also provides onsite service and roadside repair, should your vehicle need it. In situations that include large vehicles or heavy trucks though, especially those carrying a load, we understand the importance of safely reaching their destination.

That’s why, if after a safe rescue your vehicle needs repairs, Pro-Tow can take the vehicle to our Motorplex shops. They are located in either Auburn, WA or Spokane, WA. There the heavy-duty mechanic can do all the repairs you need to get back on the road. For fleet vehicles, our Motorplex technicians can also provide light auto work, to make sure your vehicles are in safe and working order.

Just remember, if you find yourself in an unexpected situation or emergency, stay calm and call Pro-Tow to help!

Spill And Slide On Highway 18 At Tiger Mountain

Spill And Slide On Highway 18 At Tiger Mountain

In this incident on October 12th, 2019, Pro-Tow responded to a call about a tanker truck that had overturned on Highway 18 at Tiger Mountain, spilling thousands of pounds of fuel, oils and grease. We arrived at the accident with Pro-Enviro, the Washington State Patrol and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to handle this semi-truck spill recovery.

WSDOT activated their major incident response to stop traffic and close the highway so that our team could bring the necessary equipment and trained personnel. We immediately assessed the situation and created our recovery plan. To handle this semi-truck spill recovery, we required several specialized pieces of equipment.

Our Pro-Enviro division is called in anytime there is a vehicle fluid-related spill. Since oil and fuel spills are an environmental threat, we first focused on containing the spill on the roadway. Working with Bobcat Northwest and Pro-Enviro, the spill was collected and disposed of. From there, we then cleared debris from the accident and cleaned the road.

With the roads cleared, we were able to set up our specialized equipment to righten the semi tanker truck. We used specialized equipment from Miller Industries, Ashley Sling Inc. products and Sonetics wireless headsets, to upright the semi tanker truck. With the roads clear once more, we were able to reopen the busy roadway to let the traffic carry on through.

The Dangers Of Vehicle Fuel Spills

When a semi-truck accident includes a spill, it’s hazardous not only to people but especially so to the environment. If the diesel fuel is spilled on roads, it creates slippery services that are dangerous to traffic. As a mixture of different toxic chemicals, if any gets into groundwater it can contaminate drinking water or kill aquatic wildlife. Both oil and grease spills are the frequent culprit to loss of animal life, as the oil coats mammals’ fur leaving them at risk.

That’s why, during any semi-truck spill recovery incidents, Pro-Tow calls in Pro-Enviro to help quickly and safely contain the spills. Once any spills are contained, the fluids are cleared and properly disposed of. Here at Pro-Tow, we take the safety of our clients and our environment seriously, so we always work quickly to protect both.

Can’t Contain Myself!

On October 16, 2019, a semi-truck overturned on State Highway 18 near Fall City, WA in the early hours of the morning. The truck was hauling a shipping container full of clothes when it overturned. Pro-Tow was called in to assist with the semi-truck accident.

Pro-Tow quickly responded to the semi-truck accident call using our specialized recovery equipment, an overhead crane lift, to righten the truck and pull it back onto the road. Once back up, we then recovered the clothes and got them back into the closet for transport.

While our team worked as quickly as possible, we were able to keep lane closure to a minimum.

After the truck accident recovery, all lanes were re-opened, and everyone was able to return home safely and without incident.

Accident Recovery Management Prioritizes Safety

Two of the biggest concerns during truck accident recovery is the safety of those involved in the accident and the safety of any traffic driving near the accident.

Knowing that every situation and load involved is unique is key to establishing the right steps to safely recovering the truck involved in an accident. When Pro-Tow is called to a semi-truck accident, we first assess the situation and then create a recovery plan. We often work with the Washington State Police Department of Transportation (WSDOT) if any traffic lanes need to be blocked and traffic redirected. If the accident takes place at night or during the early morning, we also set up safety lighting around the site. This helps create a safety zone around the accident, making sure that visibility is not an issue. Our priority is the safety of those involved in the accident, those working to recovery the site and the local traffic.

Time Is Money

According to the WSDOT, every minute a lane is closed is four to ten minutes of traffic congestion. That’s why, when it comes to semi-truck accidents, we use our specialized recovery equipment to quickly and safely clear the roads. If traffic lanes need to be closed, we try to keep it to a minimal closure. Both traffic delays and delivery delays bring unwanted costs that we at Pro-Tow want to help avoid.
