Ford F350 at Cedar Grove Accident Recovery

Ford F350 at Cedar Grove Accident Recovery

In this incident, on April 30, 2021, Team Pro-Tow received an emergency dispatch from Washington State Police about a collision involving a Ford F-250 pickup stuck in the ditch. With little other information provided, we responded with a Class E flatbed truck and set out.

At the scene, we found that the left front tire of the truck was completely ripped off and that oil was leaking into the ground. Our team called for a wrecker for this accident recovery, and a trained operator responded with a B Class Wrecker.

Accident Recovery

To minimize damage, avoid risk to our equipment, and limit the impact on the traffic, we decided to do a “walk it up” recovery. To do this, we dispatched additional equipment and began the recovery process.

First, we rigged a medium-duty rim sling to the right rear wheel of the casualty and double-lined the winch line at the rear tailboard of the recovery truck. With the line secured, we began winching the casualty out of the ditch until we cleared the backend completely. We then re-rigged the high line to the front right wheel of the truck to completely pull it free from the ditch. With our carefully planned approach, Team Pro-Tow recovered the vehicle without any further fuel or oil spill.

Emergency Towing Services

We then prepared the casualty for emergency towing services and transport to the storage yard. We loaded the pickup truck onto the Class E flatbed and secured it in place before performing debris cleanup. We also performed property damage evaluation and reported back to the command post.

Then, Team Pro-Enviro handled cleanup efforts afterwards, who cleared the area and collected necessary soil samples. Finally, back at the storage yard, our team did a final cleanup and inspection of the equipment before putting it away.

Heavy Truck Towing for When You’re Stuck in the Mud

Heavy Truck Towing for When You’re Stuck in the Mud

In this incident, on January 11, 2022, a truck and trailer were driving along and took a too narrow turn that ended up with its trailer wheels trapped in the muddy ditch at a dairy farm. Luckily, Team Pro-Team was there to save the day and help the trapped truck get free.

Heavy Truck Towing for the Stuck Truck

Team Pro-Tow arrived on the scene promptly prepared for some heavy-truck towing. The truck in the mud was about 80,000 pounds, so it took some muscle to get it out of the ditch! We set up the rigging around the stuck truck, carefully pulled it free, and set it back onto the road.

The good news for the truck driver is that our Team Pro-Tow offers 24-hour emergency towing services, including heavy truck towing. So even in cases like these, where it’s not a major accident, our team is always ready and able to help.

Avoid Needing Semi-Truck Towing

While we can always help with a stuck truck and trailer, the best practice is to avoid the problem altogether. Still, it can be a problem at loading lots, especially during the warmer months that bring rain and muddy conditions.

The first step is to walk around your truck to check the ground in front and behind your rig. If you aren’t sure how stable or soft the ground is, it’s best to avoid driving or parking on it. Being extra careful, and taking time to inspect the ground, can help you avoid the cost of semi-truck towing.

This rule also applies in the winter. After parking your truck, wait 10-15 minutes, then move the truck forward or backwards. As your tires cool down, it can melt the snow beneath the tires. When that snow refreezes, it turns icy and can make your truck stuck. Moving off the melted patch will save you from getting stuck during a roadside break or while loading your cargo.

Emergency Towing Service for a RAV4 in a Pond

Emergency Towing Service for a RAV4 in a Pond

In this incident, on January 2, 2021, Team Pro-Tow responded to an emergency towing service call. A RAV4 had gone off the road and into the ditch. Unfortunately, there had been severe weather and flooding, and the RAV4 found itself stuck in a ditch pond.

Because we offer 24-hour towing services throughout Washington State, our team could respond to this accident quickly. First, we carefully rigged up the vehicle and pulled it back on the road. Then we took it to a secure location, and we signed off on the job.

Flooded Roads Make Bad Driving Conditions

Severe rainstorms can cause pooling water on the road and flooding in the ditch. In worse-case scenarios, the flooding extends over the road and makes for hazardous driving conditions. You should always drive with extreme caution during and after storms, check road reports, and avoid travel if necessary.

To avoid needing an emergency towing service, avoid driving on roads that are covered in more than 6 inches of water. Don’t drive in it if you’re not sure how deep it is. You should be especially cautious at night or in poor visibility conditions.

If you hit a large puddle of water, it is easy to lose control. You could end up in the ditch, striking an obstacle or have the engine take in water. If this happens, call for 24-hour towing as soon as possible. Team Pro-Tow will respond quickly and remove your vehicle before the situation worsens or becomes hazardous for other drivers.

If You’re Not Sure, Avoid It

Most people ignore puddles on the road and blast right through them. If there has been heavy rainfall and flooding in the area, you should think twice before plowing through a pool of unknown depths. You can’t tell if the road is worn away, or if there is debris under the water. As mentioned before, you can lose control and suffer the same fate as this RAV4.

Driving through floodwaters can destroy your vehicle and put you in danger. If you ever find yourself in trouble, count on Team Pro-Tow for 24-hour emergency towing service.

Crane Lift Service for Camper at the Ritz

Crane Lift Service for Camper at the Ritz

In this incident on July 21, 2021, team Pro-Tow received an emergency dispatch from Washington State Patrol for an overturned camper trailer and full-size Dodge pick-up. The RV accident was near Ritzville, WA.

The collision was blocking the interstate, so we contacted a WSP Trooper at the scene to receive more information. We arrived on-site with a Heavy-Duty Rotating Crane Style Wrecker, Medium Duty Wrecker, and a Specialty Landoll Flatbed Semi-Trailer. After a scene evaluation and discussion with the command post, we got to work on this accident recovery and crane lift service.

Challenging Trailer Recovery

We found that the truck and camper trailer had overturned, slid, and then spun to face oncoming traffic. The damage was significant and required special safety precautions to avoid dismantling the camper. While dismantling was possible, that would take more time, equipment, and personnel for this accident recovery.

So instead, we performed calculations and created an alternate but still safe recovery plan. We also set up the equipment to minimize lane closure, so the traffic could still flow safely. Then, using specialty recovery straps, rigging, and high-pressure airbags, Team Pro-Tow performed an overhead crane lift service and load. Next, we performed non-routine strapping and tie-downs for safe transport to the storage yard and finish the trailer recovery.

Accident Recovery Complete

We performed an overhead crane lift service at the storage yard and placed the casualty into storage. The owner was able to retrieve any personal belongings from the unit as needed. We then returned all supplies and equipment to their original location and condition. Once we finished all the required paperwork, our team cleared the call.

Team Pro-Tow offers crane lift services and 24-hour emergency towing in Spokane, Maple Valley, Auburn, and North Bend.

Tipsy Tanker Truck Recovery

Tipsy Tanker Truck Recovery

Last summer, on July 15, 2020, Team Pro-Tow got a call for a truck recovery. A tanker truck had gone off the roadway and into the ditch. The tank it was hauling was nearly tipped over, balancing precariously on one wheel. One wrong move, and that tank could tip entirely.

Our team of highly skilled and trained operators arrived at the scene with our equipment to rescue the tanker truck. First, we set up a truck recovery plan and secured the rigging on the truck and tank trailer. Then, we straightened out the casualty using a heavy crane-style wrecker, so it was no longer in danger of flipping. Our team then towed the tanker truck safely out of the ditch.

A tipsy tanker truck requires an emergency towing service. If it flips, there will be damage, and depending on what is in the tank, it might spill hazardous materials.

Why do tankers tip and need truck recovery?

Like any truck that tips and needs an emergency towing service, an imbalanced load is typically the cause. With tanks, they carry liquid. Much of the time, it’s a potentially dangerous liquid like oil or gas. Or it could be caring milk, water, or even liquid animal feed. As the truck goes down the road, that liquid sloshes around the tank and could cause balance issues. It is especially hazardous on winding roads and in the wind.

When you imagine 5,000 to 10,000 plus gallons of liquid sloshing around, you can see why extra measures are required to maintain balance.

What prevents tanker trucks from tipping?

There are a few methods to help prevent tanker trucks from tipping and needing truck recovery. The most recent and commonly used system is an inflatable “airbag” made of rubber installed inside the tank. These airbags fill the empty space in the tank and will absorb the pressure of all those gallons of liquid. Essentially, it stops all that sloshing around during transport.

Even with technologies in place, accidents can still happen and need emergency towing service. For example, wind, weather, road conditions, traffic, and operator error can cause a truck to go into the ditch and lose balance. If this is the case, call Team Pro-Tow for truck recovery!
