In this incident, on May 15th, 2020, Our team received an emergency dispatch involving two heavy-duty forklifts. One of them had overturned onto its side and needed a forklift recovery. Team Pro-tow dispatched the necessary equipment to both safely recover the forklifts and avoid more damage.
Scene Assessment
We arrived at the scene with a heavy-duty flatbed tow truck and a heavy-duty crane-style wrecker. After reporting to the incident command, our team assessed the situation. We could easily load the standing forklift without extra equipment, but the second was a different matter. The overturned forklift needed both equipment sets, so our team quickly put together a plan—time for a forklift recovery.
Equipment Recovery
After getting authorization to use the bike trail for the recovery, we moved the recovery truck into position. We installed the rigging to safely upright the forklift and avoid more damage to the machine or environment. Our team used a combination of soft straps, shackles, and four lines attached to the forklift to handle the safe and successful recovery.
With the forklift upright, we repositioned the equipment, rerigged and did an overhead lift. The forklift was moved to the heavy-duty flatbed and secured into place. Once we secured the first equipment recovery, the second forklift was loaded with ease.
With everything securely tied down, we returned to the storage yard. All equipment was returned to its original condition and location, ready for the next call. We completed all the necessary paperwork and got the cleared call. We were glad we could assist with this forklift recovery.
