Providing 24-hour truck recovery in Washington State and the Pacific Northwest
Sometimes drivers get into bad situations. They might be high-centered on a guardrail, stuck in the mud, tipping into a ditch, or, in this case, up on a bridge rail. Thankfully, Pro-Tow by FleetEasy operates 24 hours a day and has the experience and equipment to move vehicles safely out of stuck situations.
In a recent incident, a delivery truck was stranded with one wheel over the railing of a short bridge, blocking access for nearby residents. The recovery required careful positioning, air bags and cribbing to bring the truck back onto the bridge. Here’s how it went down.
A Truck Stranded Over a Bridge Railing
Pro-Tow received the dispatch about the stuck truck and sent a recovery truck to the scene. On arrival, the operator parked on the street to assess the situation. A FedEx truck had one wheel hanging over the railing of a short bridge, leaving the vehicle in a precarious position. The truck was also blocking residents from getting through.
We needed to create a truck recovery plan. We wanted to control the recovery to prevent damage to the truck and get the road cleared as quickly as possible.
Using Air Bags and Cribbing for Truck Recovery
For this recovery, the Pro-Tow operator backed the recovery truck into position and used air bags and cribbing beneath the truck.
Air bags provide controlled lifting force, while cribbing provides stable support as the vehicle is repositioned. When used appropriately by trained recovery operators, these tools can help move a vehicle from a difficult position without relying on pulling force alone.

The operator used the equipment to force the truck back over the railing and onto the bridge. Once it was back on the bridge, the operator drove it forward to the center. This repositioned the vehicle and allowed the operator to remove the airbag from beneath the wheel.
The truck was saved and ready to get back to work on the right side of the bridge railing. It was another successful truck recovery for Pro-Tow!
